Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: Cannon Blown Miles From Exploding Ship
The SS Mont Blanc blew up in Halifax Harbor in 1917. This small cannon from it was hurled two miles into a pond across the street from where it's now displayed.

- Several miles north of downtown, on the northwest corner of Albro Lake Rd and Pinecrest Drive. Hwy 111 exit 2E. Drive south on Victoria Rd/Hwy 322. The divided highway will end shortly; when it does, turn left at the stoplight onto Albro Lake Rd. The small cannon will be on the left, at the first corner where you can make a left (Pinecrest Drive), in front of a small playground.

When the French munitions ship Mont-Blanc accidentally blew up in Halifax Harbor on Dec. 6, 1917, a cannon from its stern was flung nearly two miles. The explosion killed 1,963 people. The artillery piece has been displayed since 1992 near the spot where it landed.
