El Reno is the home of the onion-fried hamburger. It even has a spring festival in its honor where the town serves up the world's largest onion-fried burger. You don't have to wait for the annual festival, however. Sid's Diner is the king of onion-fried hamburgers during the rest of the year. Just off of Route 66, it has a regular menu but we have no idea of what's on it. The items listed just above the counter are all that you need. To really get the show, stop in on a Saturday around lunchtime. Benihana has nothing on these folks. One more thing: don't supersize anything unless you're feeding an army. The regular portions are too large for most.

No need to wait for the annual Fried Onion Burger Day in El Reno. At Sid's Diner there are great onion burgers and "freedom fries" every day, just around the corner from the Canadian County Historical Museum.

Fried Onion Burger Day is an annual event that culminates in the grilling of the World's Largest Fried Onion Hamburger: "A tribute to the fried onion hamburger, cooked daily in El Reno since the early 1900s." The World's largest fried onion hamburger weighs over 750 pounds.
