Solar Walk

The Solar Walk spans nearly a mile from the Sun to Pluto.

[Jon Morgan, 06/24/2018]

With each step you cover a distance equal to the span between the Earth and Moon. We just made that up, but we're probably not too far off.

The Solar Walk

The Gainesville Solar Walk is a public art project created by Elizabeth Indianos and installed in 2002 at a cost of $30,000. Each sculpture represents a planet in the solar system (including the now-orphaned Pluto) as well as two Halley's Comet representations. The scale is 4 billion to 1. Each piece includes a quote and is embedded with various stones.

Think George Jetson meets Earth Day.

If The Solar Walk is not to your liking, there is an entrance to a nature walk along the route that is very relaxing.
