In Weatherford, there is a museum that celebrates the pioneering spirit that made Texas the only state in the union that was it's own country. Visitors can see a full-sized longhorn named Rawhide whose ancestry can be traced to cattle brought to Mexico by the Spanish centuries ago. He was also mentioned by Ripley's Believe it or Not as having the largest horn spread.
Visitors can see Rawhide alongside authentic tipis, a chuck wagon, developed by native Charles Goodnight. Other exhibits focus on local talent Mary Martin. Local and national rotating exhibits are also available for view.
