We drove through Streator after seeing it featured on a Nova episode covering the plight of Pluto, the one-time planet. Streator is the hometown of the astronomer who discovered Pluto, Clyde Tombaugh. We were hoping to visit the local museum; they weren't open the Saturday we came through.
There is a mural over Don's Furniture on Main Street. The mural proclaims Tombaugh, very clearly, "Discoverer of the Planet Pluto."
