Address:: Old Reservoir Rd, Mount Olive, IL
Directions:: On the northwest edge of town. I-55 exit 44. Drive east on Lakeview Drive/Hwy 138, then quickly turn left onto Old Route 66. Drive a little over a mile. Turn right onto Old Reservoir Rd and drive to the Union Miners Cemetery; you'll see Mother Jones' big grave on the right.

Grave of Mother Jones

After passing by hundreds of times, finally exited the Interstate to see the "Mother Jones Monument," as the sign reads. The gravesite is a monument to coal miners, factory workers and the labor union cause championed by Mother Jones.

It was a true honor to stand in this place. Truly humbling. A strong, mighty woman is here. As her tombstone says: "Mother Jones and her boys" -- her boys being coal miners who died on the job.
