Millville, New Jersey: World's Almost-First Vietnam Memorial
A modest tribute to the Millville soldiers who fought in Vietnam was erected in 1977 by the local Jaycees. Believed to be the first monument of it's kind by its builders -- but there's at least one earlier monument elsewhere.
- Address:
- Riverside Drive, Millville, NJ
- Directions:
- Just west of town. From Hwy 49/Main St. turn south onto Riverside Drive at the Wawa Food Mart. The memorial will be about a hundred yards south, on the left, on the east bank of the Maurice River.
World's First Vietnam Memorial: War memorials are ubiquitous landmarks in almost every American town, large or small. If soldiers die in an officially endorsed conflict, someone will erect a heroic statue or solemn monument to remember their sacrifice. [09/17/2010] Complete Story...
