The World's Second Largest Seated Lincoln has sat abandoned since its original owner, lawyer Eric C. Conn, was thrown into prison for Social Security fraud (The statue was unveiled with much fanfare by Conn in his office parking lot in November 2010). Now, according to the online publication Kentucky Today, the land where Abe sits has been bought by a real estate developer, and he has offered to donate the statue to the Middle Creek National Battlefield, ten miles away in Prestonsburg. Although the deal is not yet final, the Floyd County Tourist Commission has already set aside money to move the big statue, and Kentucky Today quotes one commissioner as saying, "believe it or not, people will drive 100 miles just to look at the daggone thing."
