Giant Human Organs

Lots of fun and interactive things to do, including hanging out in the 27-foot-long intestine and seeing the giant beating heart! Parking was free across the street at Hermann Park.

It bears an uncanny resemblance to our old chum from the Colossal Colon Tours of 2002-2004.

The latest addition to The Health Museum's "Amazing Body Gallery" is the 12-foot-tall Giant Beating Heart. Switched on Feb. 1, 2016, the heart merrily lug-dubs along -- until it suffers a heart attack. This happens every 20 minutes or so, giving visitors an up-close view of its restricted blood flow and muscular spasms.

The Giant Beating Heart is just the latest of several giant organs at this attraction, which already boasts of a 22-foot-long backbone, a 10-foot-tall walk-thru brain, an equally colossal walk-in eyeball, and a 27-5-foot-long crawl-thru colon.

Also unveiled with the Giant Beating Heart was another cardiac-inspired interactive attraction: the Giant Human Hamster Wheel.

Transparent Woman

Not the greatest museum, at least for adults. Maybe for kids. Close to others though.

[Curtis, 01/21/2010]

Could see how "Amazing Body Pavilion" might suggest (to us, anyway) plastinated, action-posed cadavers for adult perusal. Health museums like this are usually for families who enjoy a walk-through brain, 27-ft. long intestine, and interactive exhibits. Listed here only for the Transparent Woman as an oddity from an earlier era of health museums!
