This is not a replica. It is an actual Redstone A-6 rocket. Alan Shepard was shot into space on the longer A-7. Go inside the NC Museum of Life and Science for the rest of the aerospace exhibit, including the hatch off of John Glenn's Friendship 7 spacecraft.

We found this replica of the Mercury-Redstone rocket in Durham, NC at the Museum of Life and Science. This is the same place you'll find the Old Brontosaurus/Dinosaur Trail. It is in front of the museum.
