Sekiu, Washington: Gil the Running Fish

In downtown Sekiu, the shorts-and-sneaker-clad running fish boy, "Gil," is probably looking for his running fish girlfriend at the edge of town.

Gil the Running Fish

It appears that Gil was maybe never located in Clallam Bay. The trellis fence in the background is a dead match for a photo that I took of the statue this summer in Sekiu. Gil is not "gone," but probably just the victim of a misidentified location.

Good eye. Thanks!

Gil the Running Fish

Drove by Clallam Bay to check out Gil. Didn't find him in his usual spot in front of the liquor store. I even checked the back of the liquor store, just in case they'd moved Gil. Sad to say, Gil's gone. Good thing Rosie is still at her usual spot in Sekiu, which made the drive from Bremerton worth it.

Rosie, the finny female counterpart to Gil, wears a pink skirt and sports bra.

Running fish boy.

We saw the Sekiu Fish Girl on a trip to Cape Flattery last year. She has a boyfriend, Gil, in downtown Clallam Bay.
