Dillsburg, Pennsylvania: Pickle Man Statue (Gone)
An old tree stump carved into a Dillsburg welcome mascot -- a humanoid larger-than-life pickle with top hat, on top of a barrel. Eventually rotted. Dillsburg drops a giant pickle every New Year's Eve.

We stopped to see the Pickle Man today, but all that was left was his barrel. Not sure if he was taken in for the winter or if he broke. It looked like his feet were still attached to the barrel.

He does resemble a rogue Mr. Peanut a bit. While any connection to Dillsburg or its founder, Matthew Dill, to the invention of the dill pickle is coincidental, the town does drop a festive giant pickle each New's Years Eve.
