A place that you thought only existed in a Simpsons episode. If you can eat its 72 oz. steak in an hour, you get it for free. Big bull and goofy photo-ops in the parking lot.

We ate here, but not for the free steak. There's a gift shop and penny smasher, and there's a lot to do even outside of the restaurant, including a large Texas state-shaped pool and a dog park!

The food at the Big Texan Steak Ranch is pretty good in spite of the decor. It's definitely Texas-style fun.

You'll see billboards advertising the Big Texan Steak Ranch 72 ounce steak challenge when you get within a hundred miles of Amarillo. But even if you aren't up to devouring five pounds of beef and trimmings (or watching someone else do it), this sprawling monument to Texan cuisine is a tourist trap worth getting stuck in.
