Altona, Manitoba, Canada: World's Tallest Painting on an Easel (In Transition)
In 1998 artist Cameron Cross created a 76-foot-tall easel to hold a replica Van Gogh painting in recognition of Altona as the Sunflower Capital of Canada. Damaged by a windstorm in 2025; the town plans to have it back up in 2026.

One of Cameron Cross's Van Gogh easel structures. This easel stands at 76 feet 6 inches and was erected in 1998. The painting celebrates Altona's reputation as the Sunflower Capital of Canada. Cross has erected other giant easels, including the largest in Goodland, Kansas.

Two separate windstorms in early 2025 punched holes in the easel's 24-by-32-foot canvas. The town took down the painting, but plans to have it repaired and back up in 2026.
