Great food and atmosphere. We enjoyed a tasty meal (try the sampler) and even met Leon's sister. We were honored to hold one of Leon's custom Lynyrd Skynyrd guitars! What an appropriate way to honor one of Southern Rock's icons.
It is located just around the corner from Homosassa Springs State Park.
[William Leight, 08/08/2011]Neon Leon's - For Lynyrd Skynyrd Fans
It's a steakhouse and Cajun restaurant with a Lynyrd Skynyrd theme, named after the band's bass guitarist, Leon Wilkeson. The band members grew up in north Florida, and this establishment is run by Leon's nephew, Mitch Simmons and his wife Lorraine (with the help of Leon's son Lee Wilkeson and Leon's sister Marlen Wilkeson, according to the illuminating origin story on the menu).
Skynyrd fans will appreciate the many photos, authentic Leon guitars exhibited, and his signature leather top hat, under glass next to the cash register. And of course the gumbo, jambalaya, catfish and gator tail dishes.
