The dragon is 42 feet long, and the scales are laser-cut mirrored stainless steel panels. The dragon was fabricated by Rustic Steel Creations as a promotional piece for the International Dragon Boat Races, then it was sold to Kevin Burns at Associated Jewelers and Watch Repair.
When initially placed on the rooftop, it faced the opposite direction and caused too many accidents, so the city asked it to be positioned differently. Since then, no more accidents have occurred.

We went looking for the dragon while in Tampa. It's still there and still bright. We couldn't find anyone to tell us about it, so I took some pictures and left.

Spotted a bright metal sculpture, possibly chrome-plated, on the roof of a one-story strip of stores on the south side of Kennedy Blvd. Seems to be part of Associated Watch and Jewelry (treasures worth a dragon's protection!). The statue is estimated to be 30 feet long.
