Built by Joffery Cochennic in 1979-80 to acknowledge the moment in 1974 when the Virgin Mary appeared to him in a local church. In case you ever wondered, Cochennic observed that she is 5 ft. 8 inches tall, with beautiful deep blue eyes. He was born in 1914, so is getting on in years, but has apparently continued to work on the shrine -- an impressive structure, not some pile of rocks. We appreciate the guidance written on it: "Say the Rosary." Jesus, across the street, is pointing to his chest, in case you didn't notice the flaming heart.
