2010 U.S. Population Center
The 2010 U.S. Census proclaimed the population center of the nation to be in Plato. The town wasted no time erecting a monument: a silvery disk mounted on a small red granite pedestal.

There was some controversy surrounding what city was actually the population center in 2010. Two scientists from Minnesota, using a 3-D map, decided the actual population center was in Tebbetts, MO. The U.S. Census Bureau uses a flat map to determine the population center. Despite the marker in Plato, there is also a sign in Tebbetts.
