The Firebird
The 17-foot-tall, 1,433-pound Firebird, hand-decorated with over 7,500 pieces of mirrored and colored glass, stands in front of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
It's supposed to be a representation of the Phoenix of Greek mythology, reflecting rebirth and renewal. Many people think it more closely resembles a long legged bird wearing bell-bottom pants, and have nicknamed it "Disco Chicken." Others think it looks like an escapee from an Anime cartoon! It does draw lots of attention and will draw you and your camera when you see it.
