According to the displays at the International UFO Museum in Roswell -- and what source would know better? -- a mysterious something crashed several miles outside of town on June 14, 1947. The story broke in the local newspaper on July 7, and for the ensuing 75 years this formerly sleepy New Mexico ranch town has become a destination for saucer sleuths, who converge to unearth the unearthly truth about our Space Brothers (and buy some souvenir t-shirts). The absence of actual UFO debris (or extraterrestrial corpses) in Roswell is tactfully forgiven by its tourist-pilgrims, who know that such evidence is always quickly spirited away.
