Nashville, Tennessee: Mosaic Dragon Sculpture

Chilean-born artist Pedro Silva created this long, colorful sculpture titled "Sea Serpent" in 1981, with humps emerging from the surface of a public park. Locals call it The Dragon. Restored in 2018.

In Fannie Mae Dees Park. Exit I-440 at 21st Ave and head east, stay on 21st and you will soon come to Hillsboro Village, turn left at Blakemore Ave and stay in the left lane, turn left on 24th Ave South -- you can park along there.

The "Sea Serpent" by Pedro Silva has been beautifully restored. The tile colors are vibrant. View the "before" pictures attached to the fence to appreciate the extent of the restoration.

Currently off-limits for repairs; there's a fence/screen around the dragon.

Mosaic Dragon Sculpture

The official name of the park is the Fannie Mae Dees Park, after one of Nashville's civic leaders. The mosaic dragon is the centerpiece of the park, which also has a picnic area. The best time to visit is weekdays while school is in session.
