Dolly Parton has remade her Myrtle Beach "Dixie Stampede" dinner attraction into a dinner attraction about pirates. Visitors still eat a roasted chicken and a plate full of sides, but instead of rooting for either the South or the North, now they root for one of two gaily-colored pirate ships. The audience sits on either side of a 750,000-gallon lagoon while cutlasses clash and mermaids croon. The makeover cost a reported $11 million, which included raising the ceiling 30 feet to accommodate aerial hijinx in the rigging. Dolly herself makes a cameo appearance among the mermaids, through the miracle of computer technology.
