Take the time to explore inside the burial mound.
[Yvette Pryor, 06/05/2021]Very nice national park. Museum was closed because of Covid-19, but lots to see around the grounds. Take time to walk through the mound you can tour.
[Doug, 02/17/2021]
Indian mound complex.
[Jim, 06/03/2012]Indian mounds, including one you can walk into and others to climb, along with a renovated museum are the main features of Ocmulgee National Monument. I had not been there in 15 or more years, and was glad that we could still access the site. You could see the top of Fort Hawkins monument from the top of the great temple mound (We went to Fort Hawkins earlier the same day.).
We were unable to explore the whole park that day and are definitely planning to go back very soon!
[Nola, 06/20/2011]The walk-in mound is a recreated, naturally cooled "earth lodge" council chamber, with an audio presentation explaining its purpose.
