George's family has reclaimed the foot. A replica of it is on display at the Thompson Hickman Memorial Museum. I heard several stories about the actual foot. Don't have any facts.
[Dwight, 07/05/2017]The Thompson Hickman Museum is the home of "Club Foot" George Lane's foot. The museum is generally open during the summer season all weekends and most days of the week, about 11 am to at least 5 pm. It is closed by the end of September through early May.
[Bobbie, 09/01/2015]The mummified foot of Club Foot George has long been a must-see relic on the Roadside America "Zombie Army" tour.
I am happy to report that Club Foot George's Club foot, in all it's mummified glory, is still on display in Virginia City, along with the petrified cat and a birthday cake baked fresh in 1899.
It should be noted that the Club Foot is in the Thompson Hickman Library/Museum at the end of town, and not in the building in the middle of town that says "Virginia City Museum". We went to the VC Museum first and were extremely disappointed not to find a petrified cat or a mummified club foot! (And for some reason, were too embarrassed to ask).
We did eventually figure out where we needed to go - the Thompson Hickman Museum does have a smaller sign out front saying "Virginia City Museum." Both museums are free, however, donations are recommended. The Virginia City museum is somewhat larger and has various artifacts from throughout VC's history. Both are well worth the stop.

The foot was indeed repossessed by his descendants... and cremated. Fortunately, a local artist used a 3D printer to make a prefect replica of the foot before it was consigned to the flames.
