Visited Nightmare Rock on Sept. 15th 2020. It was repainted so it doesn't look scary, but like a sexy Jabba the Hut, lol.

Nightmare Rock is one of our favorite places to visit before heading over to Death Valley. We love the Mount Whitney Portal Road drive, and the drive on Movie Road. So much cinema history was made here!

A bit hard to find! Passed it going up. Almost missed it going back. Maybe 1-2 miles in on Whitney Portal road. Not far! A little turn in to photograph it. Righthand side if you're headed towards the mountain.

From the bowels of the Alabama Hills comes Nightmare Rock! Graffiti for the absurd is 4 miles west of Lone Pine, CA on Whitney Portal Road. Added bonus, more than 300 movies have been filmed in the area...from Gunga Din to Gladiator!
