Mobile, Alabama: U.S.S Alabama Battleship
The "Mighty A," veteran of World War II, was saved from the scrap heap by the nickels and dimes of Alabama school children. Good views from the adjacent park.

You can peer into a snapshot from World War II to Iraqi Freedom at this fine American military park. At Battleship Memorial Park you are able to walk the decks of a mighty battleship, go below in a World War II submarine, view cockpits of combat aircraft... you can also see tanks, a Vietnam River Patrol Boat, and a plane like the one flown by the Tuskegee Airmen.
The largest part of this park, the USS Alabama, was the one thing I didn't do since it wasn't quite open when I stopped by on my recent trip. The park in and of itself is amazing though. There is a $2 admission fee to park, but it's worth it. To enter the USS Alabama, it's around $12.
[Christina Bolling, 08/19/2010]The U.S.S. Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is the home of the battleship Alabama and the submarine the U.S.S Drum. It also contains different models of airplanes. You can tour the ship, and submarine for 10. It is without a doubt one of the most interesting sites I have ever seen. I strongly encourage people of all ages to visit this site.
[Tochia Hendrix, 05/22/2006]It has, obviously, the USS Alabama, a huge WWII battleship, which is now in very shallow water (it makes you wonder how it got there), a submarine, which they don't let people in anymore because it was so badly damaged in hurricanes and tropical storms, a bunch of planes, tanks, and a bunch of guns.
