Famous Hanging Tree

For 24 years the court trials of Goliad County were held under this big oak tree. Death sentences were carried out immediately afterward.

We stopped by the Hanging Tree and had lunch at The Hanging Tree Restaurant across the street. Very interesting area. Lots of historical markers in this spot (all around the courthouse square) and history in this town worth checking out.
