Hemphill, Texas: Remembering Columbia Museum

Many remains from the Space Shuttle Columbia landed around Hemphill on February 1, 2003. This small museum doesn't display debris, instead it exhibits personal items left on earth by the crew that perished. Outside is a small model of the Shuttle on a pole.

Remembering Columbia Museum

One of our best road trip stops from the Roadside America guide yet! Incredible, volunteer and donation-funded museum. Rivals ones I have seen owned by NASA. The guided local tour and video were wonderful and the curator was one of the original leaders of the local volunteer team. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Remembering Columbia Museum

What a beautiful and moving memorial of those who lost their lives. Thank you and God bless those thousands of Hemphill residents and others who volunteered hours and days of their time searching and serving. Please, if you are in the area you must stop for a visit.
