Vintage Car on Top of Laundromat

Here is some history on the Studebaker Building as it is known in Lugoff. The building was once Boykin Studebaker, a car dealership and garage. Mr. Boykin was there for so long, that when he died around 2006 and the lot sold, everyone missed the landmark when the old car was removed. To pay homage to Mr. Boykin and his family, the current owners spruced up the old junker and returned it to its proper place atop the Studebaker Building.

I can only ask: why? These are the kind of weird sights one lives for when driving throughout this wonderful world called the US of A. Is the laundromat promoting clean engines? Located in the middle of an otherwise ordinary highway, we had to pull off into another parking lot, just to stare. We were late for another wacky thing, so I didn't get an opportunity to ask why. Maybe some questions need not be answered.
