Deep Throat's Parking Garage

This is where informant Mark "Deep Throat" Felt met six times in secret with Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward. The dirt dug up about Watergate during those meetings eventually forced Richard Nixon to resign the Presidency. Felt was second in command at the FBI, and kept his identity secret until 2005, when he was 92 years old.

A marker, calling attention to the garage, was ready to go up outside it in 2008 (the year Felt died), but it sat in an office for three years while local officials waited for another newsworthy occasion to present itself. When it didn't, the marker was erected without ceremony in August 2011.

This is the most politically momentous parking garage in history. For Watergate completists, the parking spot where all of the clandestine meetings took place is inside the garage, space D-32.
