Tonopah, Nevada: World Famous Clown Motel

Motel with thousands of clown dolls and figures displayed in the lobby. Next door is an abandoned cemetery, whose ghosts are frequent motel visitors. The most haunted rooms have horror movie clown decor.

It's definitely a destination and not near anything else. If you like clowns this is worth the trip! We stayed in the Fear Unlimited room -- lots of flowing action under the black lights. More fun than a standard room. The gift shop/museum is chock full of clowns including Charlie -- who is apparently haunted (check out Zak Baggins freaking out when his hand moved!) the owner is very sweet and welcomes any clown donations. Buy a sweatshirt or souvenir too!

The town itself is also very cool, with the haunted Mizpah Hotel down the road. We did the ghost tour of the hotel and cemetery. The guide was kind of rambling and going off script.

Stayed in the Stephen King IT Room #108. This motel is clown-decorated from top to bottom, inside and out. The IT room has a large painting of Pennywise, and other small clown pix. The motel is old but clean -- no carpet, was a dream to walk into. Linoleum-type floor kept it clean. Direct TV provided ample viewing choices. Enjoy if you decide to visit Tonopah, Nevada.

A bonus for us ... the Tonapah Town Cemetery is next door.

Loved this place! A must-see if you are nearby, or just driving through town. The new owner, VJ, is so nice, and very proud of his establishment. We even got to tour two rooms, one of them being a haunted one. We will definitely be coming back to stay the night! And we'll be bringing a clown to add to his collection!

The Clown Motel is just as creepy as it sounds. It's also next to an old cemetery, so there's that.
