Being in the neighborhood I had go by this house. So I'm there taking pictures and this little guard dog runs over to me, yapping away, and wouldn't stop until the owner came out to get him. I continued to take pictures and when I was done, left. The owner never questioned what I was doing.

[08/05/2005] Complete News StoryWhen stuck in Orlando visiting Disney to appease the little ones, here is an unknown gem to look for. The Walker House, Tyree Lane, Winter Park. This is a house that has been painted and decorated to look like a giant battleship: the "USS Dreyfus". Remember the Dreyfus case in history (French, not US)? The owner of the house has a similiar story to tell about himself -- he was drummed out of the military for threatening to expose communists in government, so to draw attention to his plight, he did the house change thing. Once the county talked about condemning it, but he retaliated by saying he would bring in cement mixers and fill it full of concrete first.
There is also a giant flagpole flying an upside down American Flag. As I recall, the FAA tried to make him take it down because it was high enough to interfere with the flight path in the area. Mr. Walker put a giant siren on it which he blew whenever officials showed up to inspect it.
[B. Cara, 11/09/1998]Grover Walker's house was eventually repainted as an American flag, and his flagpole was chopped down to a more reasonable 15 feet.
