Seattle's 1962 "Century 21" World's Fair theme was a bright shiny future of space travel, sleek design and increasingly shorter skirts. Today the Space Needle and Science Center remain at the original site, while the bits and pieces were sold off or given away in the years following the fair. The "Bubbleator," a plexiglass bubble-shaped elevator, moved folks between floors in the center pavilion. Today it rests in a Redondo front yard, serving as a greenhouse.
