Oklahoma City National Memorial Mobilizes PR Volunteers In Media Battle With Columbine Memorial Service

According to PRWeek Magazine, PR volunteers "labored just as diligently as their Denver counterparts" to make sure that the April 19th dedication of the Oklahoma City National Memorial, held on the fifth anniversary of the bombing that left 168 dead, "didn't get lost in the shuffle." About 50 members of the PR Society of America volunteered to get the message out, and succeeded in credentialing more than 1,200 members of the press for the dedication ceremonies. The Oklahoma City National Memorial includes "The Field of Chairs" sculpture and a reflecting pool next to a wall with "9:01" carved above its entrance.

Memorial to Victims at Oklahoma Bomb Site

A monument and education center is planned to commemorate the victims of Oklahoma City's terrorist bombing on April 19,1995. The Oklahoma City National Memorial will cost $24.1 million and will include a symbolic outdoor memorial, memorial center, interactive learning center and the Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism and Violence.
