Laurel, Maryland: Parking Lot Where George Wallace Was Shot
George Wallace, running as a Democratic primary presidential candidate in 1972, was doing well in the polls when he was shot four times in a shopping center parking lot by 21-year-old Arthur Bremer, who wanted to be famous. Wallace survived and was twice elected governor of Alabama, but never became President. Bremer was later cited as the inspiration for Robert DeNiro's character in Taxi Driver.

- There's no plaque or marker. The exact spot in the Laurel Shopping Center parking lot is just south of the Bank of America, on the opposite side of the drive-thru.

According to the blog Lost Laurel, the precise assassination attempt location is just south of the current Bank of America. The photo I have submitted shows both the bank and the area of the parking lot that is the shooting location.
