I talked to the former owner of the Milford Muffler Man today, she has confirmed that he is now in Cody, Wyoming.
[Jed Badda, 04/27/2003]The wheels on the World's Largest Covered Wagon have been removed; it was painted blue and converted into a motorcycle shop. One of the mechanics told me that the Muffler Man was sold to a western clothing store in Wisconsin (he wasn't too friendly about it either).
[Jed Badda, 03/08/2003]Unfortunately, it is my duty to inform you that the Muffler man listing for Milford, Nebraska is now outdated. In recent trips past the Great Conestoga Wagon gas station, I've noticed that the Great Cowboy (muffler man) is no more. I don't know of his eventual resting place, however.
[Jeff Snell, 06/13/2002]The Muffler Man outside of Milford at the World's Largest Covered Wagon is gone.
[Neal Obermeyer, 02/20/2002]Update on the Muffler Man (next to the world's largest covered wagon) along I-80 near Milford, NE. As of June, 2001, he is no longer at this location. Don't know what happened to him. The covered wagon building has been transformed into a motorcycle shop (still looks like a covered wagon).
