However many steps there are (info in the shelter says 116), it's a lot. Take it slow and keep in mind that they're hand-placed flagstone and somewhat uneven. Once you're up them, however, the view is amazing! There is also a small science and energy museum across the street.

There are 144 steps to the top. There is also a nice shelter to have a picnic lunch and a playground for kids.

The largest conical burial mound east of the Mississippi River was built by the Adena Indians, the "Mound Builders," between 1000 BC and 400 AD. It is 65 ft. tall (originally a few feet higher before an excavation attempt in 1869). From the mound top, visitors can gaze out over the surrounding Mound Golf Course.
