Warren, Ohio: David Grohl Alley, World's Largest Drumsticks

David Grohl, founder of the Foo Fighters and former drummer of Nirvana, was born in Warren. The town named an alley for him, turned it into an outdoor David Grohl gallery, and later added the World's Largest Drumsticks.

Some movement from past picture. Drum sticks are in front of wall now. Looks like the local artist Chine did a great job of repair. Really cool metal work. Musical notes line the alley, and the street is stenciled with group names.

Not surprised this is an ever shifting display....

Several of the paintings and sculptures in David Grohl Alley were ruined on April 5 by a jerk with a can of spray paint (later identified as a 35-year-old from Miami, Florida). Local artists rallied and managed to clean and repair most of the artworks over the weekend of April 19-20. Some pieces were too badly damaged and were replaced with new art. In a show of solidarity, the town has vowed to add even more David-Grohl-tribute artwork.

Foo Fighters Alley.

Dave "Foo Fighters" Grohl Alley - Outdoor Art

This is an alley back behind businesses in the downtown area. The alley name was changed to Dave Grohl Alley to honor Dave, who was born in Warren. Of course, Dave is the front man for the Foo Fighters band. He came to Warren when the alley was dedicated in 2009 (see you tube videos).

In the alley there are large scale artworks hanging on the building. Also the pavement is painted with different artwork. An artist by the name of Aaron Chine displayed an 8-ft. tall iron guitar. I'm attempting to put the largest drum sticks in world in the alley. Hopefully this summer, 2012. Rock music fans would love this stop.
