Wonder Cave - Closed

I was in an antique store and saw an old postcard for a place called Wonder Cave in Monteagle TN. I grew up in the Chattanooga area and never heard of Wonder Cave. I believe it closed many years ago. I was curious to know if any other Roadside America visitors had any recollection of Wonder Cave or remember seeing signs for it growing up.

[Michael Rhudy, 01/27/2001]

According to our yellowing copy of "Visiting American Caves" (1966, Howard N. Sloane and Russell H. Gurnee), Wonder Cave was one of the first commercialized caverns in the South, opened in 1900. It was on US 41, about 4 miles north of town.
