Just drove by the Dillion Fence. Rusty and overgrown. Look for the rocket and then you will see hubcaps. Still a cool eyesore to see!
[Stacy, 04/13/2022]We drove up and down 301/501 looking for this fence. We finally found it. Everything is overgrown and very hard to see from the road. The only thing that was visible from the road were a few hubcaps and a couple of "rockets." Not much to see close up either -- a lot of rusted junk. If you are looking for this, it is directly across from the Dillon High School.

Went by the Dillon Fence the other day, the lengthy decorated fence on Highway 301, after not having seen it for years. Boy, what was once a really cool thing seems to be suffering from major neglect. Most of the length of the fence (and the junkyard behind it) is overgrown, making it difficult to see all the artistically arranged junk that adorns the fence. Lots of cool pieces of seem to have fallen down or been stolen. Too bad.
And yes, this is where the band Dillon Fence (who've been playing some reunion shows this summer) got their name.
[Dean Jeffrey, 08/27/2001]Last time I was at South of the Border I visited a beautiful "junkyard" in the neighboring town of Dillon. It was actually a guy's yard and baby dolls hung form all the trees. and there were really neat configurations of junk everywhere. The band Dillon Fence was supposedly named after it -- ring any bells with anyone?
