Jack Cox, a feature writer for the Denver Post, alerts us to the recent erection of a replica of Utah's famous Delicate Arch. "The 54-foot arch serves as signage for a new Boondocks fun center (miniature golf, go-carts, video arcade, laser tag, etc.) due to open in mid-March."
The ersatz arch is a fitting addition to a town filled with avid straddlers of the Artificial and the Natural ... metropolitan culture and comforts, but oh-so-close to the Great Outdoors. In the Utah wilds, park rangers and environmentalists panic if a tourist makes a loud noise near the real "Delicate Arch." But Boondock's sturdy bit of American engineering can likely withstand a head-on SUV collision.
There is another Delicate Arch at the Boondock's Fun Center in Boise, Idaho.
