Brentwood, Tennessee: Nathan Bedford Forrest Statue (Gone)

Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Confederate general, slave trader, and a big honcho with the early KKK. The statue, erected in 1998 in full view of I-65, was defaced repeatedly. Its owner went blind and died in Nov. 2020, leaving a trust to maintain the statue for years to come. The trust decided otherwise, and in Dec. 2021 it was removed.

Hideous Nathan Forrest statue.

Nathaniel Bedford Forrest statue

Very ugly, large fiberglass statue of General Nathaniel Bedford Forrest on his horse, former Confederate general AND [first national leader] of the Ku Klux Klan. Statue is surrounded by a large display of various Confederate flags. The entire thing stands on a strip of privately held land right next to Interstate 65 in Nashville, TN. This is new (within the last 5 years) and ugly. Has been shot at several times and repaired, a real politically incorrect eyesore for the city. Owner is a wealthy elderly attorney in Nashville who proudly defends the statue and his right to have it there. It really looks like a cartoon statue.
