Lifelike Dempsey had been painted based on an old photo. Roosevelt appears to have been created by a less precise artist. The 2008 mural originally included an early NASA rocket -- a tribute to Colorado astronaut Scott Carpenter -- subsequently painted over to enlarge Teddy.
