Smallest Town In America
The town has reopened! The service station is now a Phin Deli franchise, which the employees told me is a Vietnamese coffee chain. The new owners come over to visit a few times a year. Don Sammons is, according to the employees, still managing the place. I bought a pound of Phin Deli coffee and a signed copy of Don's book, "Buford One."

Buford, Wyoming: Population = 1. It's also the highest town between New York City and San Francisco on I-80.

Population 1, Buford is the smallest town in the US. There is a single house and a gas station, it was closed when we stopped. It didn't look like it had been opened in awhile which is a shame because we would have bought a Buford magnet.

Buford is right along I-80, though sometimes gets cut off during harsh winter blizzards. Another Wyoming town, Lost Springs, lost its "smallest" title when it became wildly popular and mushroomed from 1 resident to 4.
