Most cities lack the foresight to mark their point of origin for future photo-ops. Not so Detroit, which has ennobled its spot with a big bronze disk set inside a sunburst of brickwork.

- Near the center of Campus Martius Park, at the intersection of Woodward and Michigan Aves. The marker is set into the pavement behind the Au Bon Pain, between it and the Woodward Fountain.
