Brewery Tour Laverne and Shirley Tribute

Sad news: the brewery is removing bottles and going to cans only. Meaning the Laverne and Shirley bottling line will soon be lost to history, just like the Shotz Brewery.

[Ron Renken, 02/09/2023]

As far as the tour is concerned, the Brewery president reassured a local news station that "we're still going to have Laverne and Shirley there, we'll still have the glove, we'll still sing the song, and it'll still be fun."

Lakefront Brewery Tour

We did the Lakefront Brewery Tour in June 2021. They didn't mention Lavern and Shirley at all, even though a picture of them hangs in the first room we were in. It's still a fun tour. Be sure to book ahead.

The placing of a glove on an assembly line bottle -- as seen in the opening credits of the 1970s sitcom -- is still promoted as part of the brewery tour.

Laverne and Shirley Bottling Line

The original bottling line used in the opening credits was in the Schlitz Brewery. After it closed, the bottling line was purchased by the owners of Lakefront Brewery. It is used daily and can be seen during the tour.

The tour includes a rendition of the theme song from the 1970s TV show, and guests are invited to drop gloves over the moving bottles just like Milwaukee icons Laverne and Shirley did in the opening credits. Nov. 2020: Photo added.
