Cool statue of Willie Nelson and his guitar. Very lifelike. Go in the morning for the best light if you intend to take pictures.

Country music superstar Willie Nelson has lived in Austin since 1971. In 2012 he celebrated his 79th birthday a few days early in Austin by attending the dedication of an eight-foot-tall bronze statue of himself on April 20th, i.e. "Counterculture Day," the euphemism given to the day that pot smokers celebrate as their own. Willie unveiled the statue, by sculptor Clete Shields, at 4:20 p.m., then performed a song he'd written, "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die." The statue shows Willie wearing his signature headband, braided hair, and sleeveless t-shirt, and stands just across the river from a Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on the south shore.
