Grand Rapids, Minnesota: Skeletal Scrap Metal Moose (Gone)
The moose was built in 2012 from scrap metal and old farm equipment. It stood 20 feet tall and weighed 1.5 tons. Reported gone 2025.

- Drive west of town on Hwy 23, past the Grand Itasca Hospital. Turn right onto CR 76. Drive a north a quarter-mile, then turn right into the Garden Court Chateau, an assisted living facility. The moose stands in an open field next to the building.

It's gone. My wife and I stopped by the chateau while on vacation and the moose is no longer there.

The Skeletal Scrap Metal Moose was created by Dutch artist Thijs Trompert of Amersfoort, Netherlands. He sports a red scarf, made for him by one of the residents of the Garden Court Chateau, the assisted living facility where he stands.
[John Miller, 05/09/2012]Trompert built the moose in 2012 -- from scrap metal and old farm equipment -- in memory of his girlfriend's grandmother, who stayed for a time at the facility. The moose stands 20 feet tall and weighs 1.5 tons.
