This entire block was gutted by fire in 1985 when Philadelphia's mayor ordered a bomb dropped on an inner-city cult headquarters. Afterward, most of the block's homeowners accepted a buyout and left, leaving parts empty and desolate to this day.

On May 13, 1985, Philadelphia dropped a bomb on the revolutionary MOVE group building, starting a fire that killed the MOVE members and families and destroyed two blocks of over 60 homes. No plaque or monument; bombed ruins were demolished.
