The Fountain of Time.

Fountain Of Time

Just east of the University of Chicago, this monument stands. It was dedicated in 1922, and sculpted by an artist from Elmwood, IL, Lorado Taft. The artist wrote about it: "I saw the mighty crag-like figure of time leaning upon his staff, his chin upon his hand and watching the endless march of humanity."

Father Time is 25-ft tall, and watches the procession across a 120 x 60 ft. fountain. A human horde of 100 concrete figures shuffles by -- there are soldiers, families, children, senior citizens. Look for the sculptor, Lorado Taft, and his assistants.
